Limoges is a city famous for its porcelain. It has numerous museums and workshops devoted to the history of porcelain and the art of enamelling. Most of these factories and workshops offer guided tours. The city itself was founded in 16BC by the Roman Emperor Augustus and even today archaeologists continue to unearth Roman villas and artefacts. A victim of numerous wars through the years, Limoges has been destroyed and rebuilt a staggering five times.

Or take a trip on one of the cruise boats, where you can sit back and enjoy the many wonderful sites. Georges Sand, the novelist, set many of her novels among this breathtaking scenery.
